Richard Comely at Richard Comely attributes Captain Canuck’s particular place in comics history to the fact that in 1975, his book was the only full-color self-published book distributed to the mass market. But of course, the character’s status as Canada’s premiere superhero didn’t hurt its legacy either. “Media and public attention have been tremendous for the series since it appeared in 1975,” Comely said. “’Canada Post’ put Captain Canuck on a stamp (1995), he appeared on the cover of ‘Time’ magazine (1997) and a number of other Canadian publications. I think all this demonstrates that Canadians love having their own superhero. After all, superheroes started with Superman and half of the creative team of Superman was Canadian born Joe Shuster.” In 2010, Richard, as well as artists George Freeman and Claude St. Aubin were inducted into the Canadian Comic Book Creator Hall of Fame at the Joe Shuster Awards on the 35th Anniversary of the debut of Captain Canuck. In 2012, details are emerging about the moving forward in production of a Captain Canuck feature film.
Mister Templeton first received attention for Stig’s Inferno (Vortex Comics), now a cult favourite, which detailed the journey of its lead character into Hell in a parody of Dante’s The Divine Comedy. Templeton recalled that after reading the three books of The Divine Comedy, “I fell in love with them as stories. It took a bit to get past the language translations, but for a year or so, I was reading different versions, off and on, as my reading on subways and buses, getting to and from school. Mister Templeton’s first transferred this inspiration into comic book form with the intent of making it a strip in his campus newspaper, but ended up shelving the project until Vortex publisher William P. Marks suggested that he make it into a series. According to Marks, of the five series that Vortex was publishing at the time, Stig’s Inferno was the most consistently produced on schedule. He has gone on to work on titles for Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Bongo Comics and Moonstone Books, including Batman Adventures, The Simpsons and many others. He also created his own graphic novel, Bigg Time, published by DC Comics’ mature readers imprint, Vertigo. He was recently editor of an independent Canadian comic company, Mr. Comics.
Ty is well known in Toronto for his series of comic book writing and drawing classes known as Ty Templeton’s Comic Book Boot Camp. http://www.comicbookbootcamp.com
Currently, Ty’s newst work is worlking with Kevin Smith for DC’s Batman 66.

We sincerely welcome Mister Templeton to this year’s Kitchener Comic Con 2015 event
An avid cosplayer and artist, That Joker Guy’s work includes the traditional art medium, digital work, video and music. It tends to sway towards the dark, but he also has a secret treasure trove of cute images. If you see him at a convention you will notice that more often than not he is sitting next to a beautiful blonde, AKA his wife and partner in “crime.” Together they make up SUGAR AND SLICE.
With almost 10 years in the convention scene in Toronto, the GTA, and at large, he tries to make something that people will enjoy seeing, hearing, and being a part of. Hope you enjoy your stay.
(Editor’s note: figurative crime only)

The amazing Vince Thompson, is coming to Kitchener Comic Con 2015! As a bit of background, Mister Thompson, in the early years of 1990s, he ran the legendary Asylum Comics, but that was then, and this is now…
Mister Vince has been drawing for fun his whole life, he has done murals for the school boards, businesses, and private homes.
As long as Vince can remember he has wanted to publish a comic book series such as Vinny & Bud! Vince is a self taught artist, that was lucky enough to befriend a few tattoo artists that taught him a lot about shading, perspective and other illustration tips.
With these added skills he was able to create characters to look the way he wanted them to look and ventured off into the wonderful world of comic book publishing.
Vinny & Bud comics are all hand drawn and written by Mister Thompson, and he hopes you enjoy every single comic book panel within his printed works.
We’re very happy to have Mister Thompson apart of our 2015 class.

Koi’s are ornamental varieties of domesticated common carp (Cyprinus carpio) that are kept for decorative purposes in outdoor koi ponds or water gardens.
Koi varieties are distinguished by coloration, patterning, and scalation. Some of the major colors are white, black, red, yellow, blue, and cream. The most popular category of koi is the Gosanke, which is made up of the Kohaku, Taisho Sanshoku, and Showa Sanshoku varieties….but these things simply do not apply towards our next individual. Some say he’s a figment of imagination of drunk university students, as others swear that this individual has swings from the rooftops to battle crime within the streets of Kitchener. Regardless of these things, the Koi has heard the underground rumors that Dr. Stevil will be in town. As a result, the Koi is coming to this year’s event to protect the citizens of Kichener from Dr. Stevil’s evil deeds .. or so we hope.
MORE on the Koi can be found at:
SO that is our 2015 class roster (wow, eh?) AND please note that, we will have other panels, lectures and workshops as some of our events for this years Kitchener Comic Con!
