Welcome to this year’s movie challenge, in-short we are looking for independent filmmakers to make a five to ten minute cinematic superhero masterpiece for this years Kitchener Comic Con event, and with that we have a Small question: do you want to win cool stuff? If so, then please read on… SO it looks like you’re still reading on, and with that I welcome you to our 24 Hour(ish) Challenge in the Region of Waterloo . In this year’s challenge, we are looking for independent filmmakers to make five minute masterpieces within than 24 Hours(ish). On  MARCH 2nd 2019 , the filmmakers groups will put their skills to the test to deliver a five minute film made in a short period of time – and we want you to be one of them! Think about it… do you have what it takes to compete? And how hard can it be? SO with that to start with

Criteria

Running time of a a minimum of minutes to maximum of 10 minutes.
* May be shot in any format, but final submission must be submitted in a DVD format (NTSC, Region 5). * May be shot in color or in black & white. * English Subtitles may be used

Submissions

Please read over our Rules ( http://kitchenercomiccon.com/live/rules-for ) and the events Terms And Conditions ( http://kitchenercomiccon.com/live/terms-conditions-for/   ) * Final DVD submissions along with documentation and submission form must be received no later than MARCH 2nd at 1:00 pm  and sent the THE SCREEN ROOM (aka the the learning room)  at KITCHENER CITY HALL second floor 

* Final DVD submissions along with documentation and submission form must be again received no later than MARCH 2nd 1:00pm

EVENT RULES

1. This is a competition open to anyone. Filmmakers’ teams are expected to bring their own equipment. IF filmmaker groups are lookig for equipment rentals, just click to the followig can be found at: https://www.theworkingcentre.org/commons-studio/171

 

2. Pre-registration is essential as places are limited. A $20 (dollars) entry fee is required, to buy on line just click to : http://shop.animemanga.ca/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_2&products_id=65 ALSO – . Each film group must have a minimum of four people per team, and each team MUST buy a Kitchener Comic-Con membership from the following link:

(special allowances may be given on a case-by-case Saverio and all decisions are final)

3. Initially a maximum of 50 entries will be accepted. Once 50 applications (with registration fees) have been received, the entry process will be closed. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Any registration forms and fees received after the entry process has been closed will be returned to entrants.

 

4. All films must be no longer than TEN minutes long

 

5. Registration will be on  WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 27th. 3 and  6pm with Josh Gofton at the Princess Twin Cinemas, 46 King St N, Waterloo, ON N2J 2W8 . Bus Routes: The iExpress to Ainslie terminal from University of Waterloo, get off at stop 3719, Uptown Waterloo or take the number 7 bus Website: NOTE; At least one member of your team must attend this registration process to collect the prop and confirm understanding of the rules. Please ensure all team member names appear on the online registration form.

6. Films must be handed in within the time allotment must be set on SATURDAY MARCH 2nd 2019  at ONE pm at Kitchener City Hall in the “LEARNING ROOM” 2nd floor of City Hall Any films handed in after this time will be disqualified. Please ensure movies are labelled correctly. As filmmakers are being given freedom to film anything they want within the Superhero pop culture genregenres, we as here to have fun!

 

7. Films must be made within time allotment from the meeting of the WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 27th  and handed in before ARURDAY MARCH 2nd 2019 at 1pm at the Kitchener City Hall. Any films handed in after this time will be disqualified. Please ensure movies are labeled correctly.

 

8. THE prop will be provided onWEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 27th  with Josh Gofton at the Princess Twin Cinemas, 46 King St N, Waterloo,    in which must appear in ONE scene of the film. This is to ensure that films are not made in advance. Any film which doesn’t include the prop in every scene will be disqualified. Any films where the prop appears to have been added using CGI will be disqualified. The prop will be low key and won’t affect your film’s subject choice.

 

9. From all of the the entries, 3 movies will be shortlisted. This shortlist will be announced and the films screened at the fest. The judges will then determine the winners. All decisions are final. All entries will appear on the home page website.

 

10. All suitable entries will be promoted on the Kitchener Comic Con HomePage and by entering this competition, you are agreeing to this event submission terms and conditions ( posted at http://kitchenercomiccon.com/live/terms-conditions-for/). If you do not wish for your film to be promoted on the event’s homePage, please let us know

* Final selections will be screened during this years Kitchener Comic Con on SUNDAY MARCH 3rd .
